Share your enthusiasm and communication skills to inspire our visitors to make the most of their visit to the Chinatown Storytelling Centre. This role welcomes guests to the Storytelling Centre and directs them through the exhibit hall to create a memorable experience. Docents may also participate in our educational programs by helping students learn more about Chinatown’s history, and support Guest Services as needed. Training to be provided. Fluency in additional languages is an asset.
Help our guests have a positive and seamless experience visiting the Chinatown Storytelling Centre. Duties include welcoming guests to the Centre, handling ticket sales, managing admission limits, distributing exhibit guides, supporting our retail staff, and encouraging engagement at the Visitor Reflection Station. An excellent opportunity for those interested in hospitality, management and office administration. Training to be provided. Fluency in additional languages is an asset.
Periodically, the Chinatown Storytelling Centre will require an extra set of hands to support venue rentals. Duties may include greeting guests, facilitating event set-up, take-down, and rearranging furniture.
Support our mission to tell stories that build bridges between generations and cultures. Your donations will help preserve and celebrate an irreplaceable piece of Canadian cultural heritage.
Ticket sales only cover a minimal amount of the Chinatown Storytelling Centre’s operating budget. Donations are instrumental to our continued growth and success.
Your contributions help the preservation of historic artefacts for future generations to discover, funding educational programs, and support the video documentation of interviews with elderly members of the community.
One-time donation
Gifts of any size can be made through cheque, cash, credit card, or stock transfer and will go directly to the Chinatown Storytelling Centre
Tribute or In Memoriam gifts
We encourage you to make a donation in honor of a loved one or someone who has positively impacted you.
Celebration gifts
Make a donation to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or a special day in a loved one’s life.
Annual or monthly donations
Annual and monthly donations enable a donor to give a larger gift over a period of time. Recurring donations can be done through credit card or post-dated cheques and can be set for a specified period of time or in perpetuity.
Planned Giving
A planned gift allows you to make the gift of a lifetime to a cause you believe in and a gift that you may not be able to afford to presently give. A planned or estate gift is the planning of a philanthropic gift today that, in the future, goes to an organization you love. This gift is added to one’s will and identifies the monetary amount to be taken from one’s estate and given to the organization.
The Chinatown Storytelling Centre is a community project of the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation, a registered charity established in 2011. A tax receipt will be issued for all donation amounts. Charitable Registration Number: 80789 5883 RR0001
