Join us for the grand opening of Neighbours: From Pender to Hastings, our new special exhibit celebrating the unique heritage of Hastings Street, its close ties to Chinatown, and the launch of Bob & Michael’s Place, an innovative community housing project at 58 W. Hastings.
Come meet the curators and get a sneak peek of Bob & Michael’s Place, featuring a scale model and video. Admire an important photograph by internationally acclaimed Vancouver artist Stan Douglas, titled Every Building on 100 West Hastings. This monumental piece captures the full southside 100 block of Vancouver’s West Hastings Street through 21 high-resolution photographs, stitched together to form a stunning 16-foot panorama from the year 2001.
Join us on October 19, anytime between 11am - 1pm for a painting Chinatown workshop with special guest Donna Seto. Come meet artist Donna Seto and learn about her watercolour illustrations that bring Chinatown's historic businesses to life! You'll get a chance to create colourful illustrations of Chinatown's buildings and stick them on magnet paper for a timeless memento to take home.
All materials will be provided, while supplies last.
All youth (17 and under) are admitted for free. Youth under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Adult participation is free with admission or free for members.
